Basingstoke town centre
Basingstoke is the largest town in Hampshire, and is located in the North-East part of the county. Situated on the M3 with direct access to London, Basingstoke is fondly known as ‘Roundabout City’ due to the large number of roundabouts across the town. With a current population of approximately 87,500, Basingstoke saw significant growth in the latter part of the 20th century, remaining a fairly small market town up until the 1960’s. This growth was part of a plan to house the ‘overspill’ from London, and because of this, Basingstoke is referred to as an ‘expanded town.’

In a short time, Basingstoke has developed into an economic hub, and is home to large corporations such as The Automobile Association as well as the UK offices for Motorola, to mention a few. Because of this, the economy has remained strong and employment high, attracting more people which will result in ongoing growth well into the future.
